Maybe you remember Gavin Russom from Delia Gonzalez and Gavin Russom and their epic Days of Mars album on DFA. Or maybe you remember him from the track “Casual Friday” as part of Black Leotard front on the same label’s compilation. Or maybe you don’t know him at all. He’s originally from Rhode Island, but has relocated to Berlin where he started his new project, Black Meteoric Star. He says he plans on releasing three 12″s in 2009. This one’s from his first one, which came out this week. Whereas his work with Gonzalez was spacier, this one has him dabbling his hand in acid. No, really.
