Whoaaa this was just what I needed! Summer Camp released an EP last year and are following up with their debut out later this year (produced by Pulp’s Steve Mackey). Just give a listen to this synthed out track and see ‘em when they hit stateside in March at SXSW.
Peter Bjorn and John are BACK with a new album called Gimme Some. Hear/watch the first single “Breaker Breaker.”
Austrian DJ/producer Wolfram‘s debut album has a lot of special guests, including Holy Ghost!, Sally Shapiro, 90s hitmaker Haddaway and Hercules & Love Affair. The first single featuring Andy Butler and Kim Ann Foxman from H&LA is out now, featuring remixes by Sally Shapiro’s producer John Agebjorn and a cover by Italians Do It Better’s Tiedye. Hear the song below and watch the low-budget Youtube-fan inspired video.
CREEP is a Brooklyn duo featuring producers/DJs Lauren Flax and Lauren Dillard. Their first single “Days” has been floating around online for awhile but I just listened to it over the weekend. It features Romy Madley-Croft of The xx, and is sexy and haunting. Azari & III pumped it up a bit on their remix, check it out below, and the song’s video (directed by the Fischer half of Fischerspooner). See ‘em live in the flesh this spring at SXSW and on tour with Klaxons across the US.

I put a lot of trust into record labels; trust that they’ll lead me to new good artists even if I’ve never heard of them before. So when I see the DFA stamp on a record, I know it’s gonna be good.
Chalk up another promising new artist to DFA for finding Benoit & Sergio. According to their bio, they’re not new per se, but they’ll be releasing their debut album on the label some time this year. Benoit & Sergio come from Paris and Iowa, respectively, and make the kind of shimmering dance music DFA is well known for. “Boy Trouble” is a song about girls, girls with legs like Ferraris, girls who never say they’re sorry, and the woeful fact that to win these girls over you need poetry. The vocals are listless and a little naggy, but it works all around.
The “Boy Trouble” 12″ is out on DFA now.
Over the weekend Kanye and Hype Williams unleashed the new video for “All of the Lights” off Kanye’s My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. I guess we’ll have to wait on that dead white girl model vid for “Monster”
Here’s a little video for your weekend. As you’ve probably heard, LCD Soundsystem are calling it quits as a touring band, and are playing their final shows in spring. They’re down in South America right now having played a few dates in Brazil. A production company filmed four or fives songs from their final show in Rio de Janeiro. It’s a great set, and if you have the time and resources, go see their final shows in NYC the end of March/beginning of April. Their final show will be April 2nd at Madison Square Garden with Liquid Liquid.
