I started the blog the summer I graduated from high school as a hobby. Somewhere to showcase songs by artists I enjoyed and encountered in my time spent on the Internet. mp3 blogs soon oversaturated the Internet and I started getting requests from labels and promotion companies to send me e-mails and CDs by new artists. I even started getting offers to cover shows. What wasn’t to love?

In 2006 I went to Mexico leaving behind my blog under the care of my older sister. She did a great job while I was gone, though towards the end of my stay in Mexico her heart just didn’t seem to be into music. When I returned I tried to pick up traffic and there were more e-mails than ever. To the day I receive hundreds of e-mails, most of which I never open. It’s become more of a chore than a fun thing for me to do, and lately I just don’t have the time nor desire to put my heart into it.

So thank you for reading my blog over the years. It’s been fun!

Hunx has broken free of his Punx (or whatever) and is releasing his solo album Hairdresser Blues February 28th on Hardly Art. ROOKIE magazine (my favorite online magazine for teenage girls) premiered the video for the album’s first single. Check it ouuuuuuuut!

I’m really excited about the debut album from NYC duo Blondes. They’ve released a few singles (including the amazing “You Mean So Much to Me“) and now February 7th RVNG Intl. will release their self-titled album. It’s a 2xCD affair, with disc one comprising their original tracks and disc 2 seeing those tracks reinterpreted by the likes of JD Twitch, Laurel Halo, Teengirl Fantasy and more. Here’s a track I really love:

SANTIGOLD YOU GUYS! She survived the o -> i changeover in her name, and now she’s got a new record. Following her mixtape for Mad Decent, her new single is produced by Switch (Major Lazer) and Buraka Som Sistema. The new song is loud, percussive, a bit chaotic. Cody Critcheloe of SSION (I know I didn’t make a top albums of the year but SSION’s Bent was definitely my number one. Or two; I never figured it out). Anyway. the results are below and you might be very pleased.
