Here’s the new video from Jessica 6, “Prisoner of Love.” The track is a reunion of sorts, because it features Antony Hegarty, who did the vocals on several tracks on Hercules & Love Affair’s first self-titled album, and all three members of Jessica 6 were part of H&LA (singer Nomi Ruiz also did the vocals on many other tracks on H&LA’s first album).
The video’s simple and sexy, lots of lights and video effects. The song is addictive and sensual, and it’s good to see Antony back in the disco saddle.
“Prisoner of Love” is from their debut album See The Light, out now on Peacefrog.
I mentioned yesterday that Jessica 6 is going on tour with Holy Ghost! and Eli Escobar but neglected to put up tour dates. Sorry ’bout that! Here they are!
Hercules & Love Affair are back, giving us a preview of their new album Blue Songs, which features a lot of new vocal talent. Gone are Nomi Ruiz and Antony who, admittedly, may have brought the band the fame they have in the first place. I don’t know about this track, it reminds me a lot of Kim Ann Foxman’s solo single “Creature” and feels different from anything off their first album.

So here’s a little bit of news for all you Hercules & Love Affair fans desperate for any news (there isn’t a lot).
You might remember that they put together a mix of a bunch of obscure disco songs but also snuck in their own new track “I Can’t Wait.” At the beginning of December they’re going to release that song as an exclusive single to celebrate their upcoming tour in Mexico and Europe. These are the first live dates in a long time for the band, so if you’re in any of these cities, don’t hesitate to go.

You might have heard that Andy Butler of Hercules & Love Affair put together a new mix CD called Sidetracked. It features lots of obscure disco tracks, and more interesting, a new H&LA track. You can hear 20 minutes of the cd here now. The CD is out July 21st as a two-disc set.

Most people that know me/read my blog could tell you I like dancing. And I like DFA. So when two of DFA’s notorious DJs rolls through poor little overlooked Dallas, I wanna go.
