So last night Okkervil River and Iron & Wine rolled into Salt Lake to play the Twilight Concert Series, which has been going on all summer long.

Anyway, being from Texas and being in Austin a lot, it’s weird I’ve never seen Okkervil River play. But I have loved them ever since Black Sheep Boy so I was pretty happy with the stuff they played. Lots of The Stand Ins and The Stage Names and a few off Black Sheep Boy (including the beautiful solo “A Stone”). A lot of the crowd hadn’t heard them before but I think a lot of them left wanting more from the band.

Iron & Wine played a solo show also, which I was not expecting. First of all, he’s so short! There were a ton of tweens and teens there, which I figured was because of the inclusion of “Flightless Bird, American Mouth” on the Twilight soundtrack. Lame. But he played a lot of stuff from all of his albums, and even a couple of news songs. His voice is so great, but made me sort of sleepy.
