Been waiting for the new release from Axel Willner, aka The Field for some time now. His last album, Yesterday & Today was a definite favorite of mine. His new album Looping State of Mind is out October 25th on Kompakt. Here’s the title track for your listening pleasure.
Bonus:
Junior Boys – Banana Ripple (The Field Remix)
Diamond Rings gives Junior Boys’ song a totally 80s makeover replete with “I Wanna Dance With Somebody” tinkerings.
Here’s the first single from Junior Boys’ upcoming release It’s All True. It’s a doozy!
The single is out May 31st with a remix from The Field.
Very exciting news! Junior Boys are back with a new album, titled It’s All True. That’s the cover art up there and Domino is giving away a song from the album. Download it below.
It’s All True is out June 14th.
I’ve been kicking around the new Caribou record Swim and I gotta say it’s one of my favorites this year, and that’s saying a lot for this year! Can’t believe it’s only April. Anyway, here’s the lead-off track from the album as reinterpreted by Junior Boys.
♫ Caribou – Odessa (Junior Boys Remix)
Swim is out now on Merge Records.

Brand new week, here’s some new house-type remix tracks. Along with a lil description/opinion of each.
♫ Friendly Fires – Jump in the Pool (Wild Geese Remix)
I actually like this remix better than the Thin White Duke one. It definitely has more of an 80′s house feel that feels more epic.
♫ Junior Boys – Hazel (Ewan Pearson’s House Mix)
The name says it all. If the original is too soft to really dance too, this remix beefs the song up a lot.
♫ Simian Mobile Disco – Audacity of Huge (Chicken Lips Malfunction)
We debuted the original webrip of the first single from SMD’s guest-heavy album, and here’s a remix. I like how they change up the vocals on it, also making the undertrack feel a lot meatier. I don’t know why meat/beef is attractive on a song but it is to me. Okay. I must just be fat.
♫ Fever Ray – Triangle Walks (James Rutledge Remix)
This is the best of the three “Triangle Walks” remixes I’ve heard. It almost sounds like something Charilift would make. I love the handclaps and it fits well with her voice, which is pretty hard to do.

Guys, there has been SO much good music already this year! I keep telling everyone it’s because I’m back from Mexico, so everyone decided to be cool and put out albums. Whatever the reason is, I’m lovin’ it. Here’s some of my favorite songs from my favorite albums this year (no lists). What have you enjoyed this year? Whose album are you looking forward to?
♫ The Juan Maclean – One Day
♫ Junior Boys – Bits and Pieces
♫ Bat for Lashes – Moon and Moon
♫ Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Skeletons (Acoustic version)

So tomorrow’s Valentine’s Day and usually like, people who like each other give gifts. People that are verbally-challenged and a perhaps a little more musically-inspired tend to do things like, give away mixes (RIP mixtapes) to their significant others/crush/coworkers/mom. Wait, what? You didn’t make one this year? Don’t worry, I gotcha covered. Seeing as I’ll be spending Valentine’s alone, I’ll let you borrow my mix I made.
Give Your Heart Away mix
(mixed ♫ mp3, 40.25 min)
or download it as individual tracks:
♫ Annie – Heartbeat (Alan Braxe Remix)
♫ Sally Shapiro – Jackie Jackie (Junior Boys Dub)
♫ José González – Heartbeats (Rocketboy Remix)
♫ Kleerup – Forever (ft. Neneh Cherry)
♫ Lykke Li – Little Bit (Loving Hand Remix)

So I’m pooped from studying for an upcoming American History test so when I do that I like making mixes for myself as a Runner. No I don’t ever run. Yes it sounds like a good idea. If I ever start, I have dozens of mixes to motivate me. Until then, they motivate me to remember who John Dickinson and Horatio Gates were.
♫ TV on the Radio – Crying (Telepathe Remix)
♫ Hercules & Love Affair – Raise Me Up
♫ Sébastien Tellier – Kilometer (A-Trak Remix)
♫ Xiu Xiu – Bishop, CA (Kid 606 Remix)
