March 8th Beth Ditto of Gossip will release a solo EP featuring collaborations with Simian Mobile Disco. She guested on their last album Temporary Pleasure so it’s a great mesh this time around, giving Beth a chance to strut her diva chords all over SMD’s skittering beats.
You can check out the video for standout “I Wrote the Book” over at Spin, and preview the entire EP on Soundcloud. The video was directed by Price James, who also directed Hercules & Love Affair’s “My House” video (he’s also done work for Peaches, Friendly Fires, We Have Band, and a lot more).
Perez Hilton has another song from the EP called “Open Heart Surgery” if you can stand all the exclamation points on his page.
Can’t believe I just linked to his site. My blog is ruined!
Guys, you should probably head over to LA Friendly, who have the new Simian Mobile Disco track featuring Gossip’s Beth Ditto “Cruel Intentions.” It’s totally a 70′s disco track, with Beth’s voice strutting all over synth stabs and ohhh man. It’s killer! I only wish it really went somewhere or Beth could use more of her voice if that makes sense.

There’s a record label called Here’s I’m a Cliché run by musician Cosmo Vitelli, and they’re putting out a two-disc compilation called Moments of a Crisis with songs by Simian Mobile Disco, Yuksek, Vitelli, and more. The first disc are some of the classic releases from the label, and the second features some new songs, including this one by the new Modular/DFA signing Canyons.
The compilation is out digitally July 21st, and physically September 8th. Here’s a “trailer” they put together for it.

Brand new week, here’s some new house-type remix tracks. Along with a lil description/opinion of each.
I actually like this remix better than the Thin White Duke one. It definitely has more of an 80′s house feel that feels more epic.
The name says it all. If the original is too soft to really dance too, this remix beefs the song up a lot.
We debuted the original webrip of the first single from SMD’s guest-heavy album, and here’s a remix. I like how they change up the vocals on it, also making the undertrack feel a lot meatier. I don’t know why meat/beef is attractive on a song but it is to me. Okay. I must just be fat.
This is the best of the three “Triangle Walks” remixes I’ve heard. It almost sounds like something Charilift would make. I love the handclaps and it fits well with her voice, which is pretty hard to do.
And don’t forget about the contest to win a copy of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ It’s Blitz and poster!
“Cream dream” indeed.
1 Cream Dream (ft. Gruff Rhys of Super Furry Animals)
2 Audacity of Huge (ft. Chris Keating of Yeasayer)
3 10000 Horses Can’t Be Wrong
4 Cruel Intentions (ft. Beth Ditto of Gossip)
5 Off the Map (ft. Jamie Lidell)
7 Bad Blood (ft. Alexis Taylor of Hot Chip)
8 Turn Up The Dial (ft. Young Fathers)
10 Pinball (ft. Telepathe)

Apparently according to NME Peaches is releasing her new album I Feel Cream May 5th in North America, the 4th in the UK. The album features contributions by Simian Mobile Disco, Soulwax, and Digitalism. That’s a lot of heavy-hitters! Hope the album is better than Impeach My Bush. She’s also heading on tour immediately afterwards to support the album.

Let me take you in a time warp back to the year 2006…when these jams were the sickest. Courtesy of Modular’s Leave Them All Behind mix CD that, I just recently re-discovered, is awesome. All of these tracks make me remember what a good year ’06 was.
Consider this the T+T “I <3 the ’00s” edition.
