sholiSo when I got home from Mexico, I went to puruse the 7″s at Half Price Books in Dallas. I found some good records, some new some old. I also found one by a band called Sholi. The picture above is the cover. Anyway I saw they did a cover of Joanna Newsom’s “Sprout and the Bean” and it was only like $3 so I bought it. Inside the 7″ there was a digital download and luckily whoever had owned the record before me hadn’t used the code so I downloaded the two songs. The A-side was another cover of an Iranian singer called Googoosh.

Sprout and the Bean (Joanna Newsom cover)

The band of the mentioned 7″ is Sholi, from San Francisco. The 7″ was released on Holocene Music (of Portland) and now the band has been picked up by Quarterstick Records (sister label of Touch & Go) and their debut album was recorded by Greg Saunier of Deerhoof. Cool right? Cool.

All That We Can See

You can still buy the 7″ from Holocene (do it, it’s gorgeous) and the LP will be out Tuesday.
