I remember seeing the Thermals open up for Sleater-Kinney three times. Once at SXSW and twice at S-K’s final two shows in Portland. The three of them make a lot of noise, that’s for sure. The two core members, Hutch and Kathy, have been making music together for awhile, and their chemistry is charming.

The Thermals’ new CD Now We Can See, their first for Olympia, WA’s Kill Rock Stars, is much of a continuation of 2006’s The Body, The Blood, The Machine which is very much a good thing. I hope this CD gets a lot of plays and gets them a lot more attention from people who maybe haven’t heard them or paid much attention to them previously.
