Abe Vigoda rests in pretty sweet company. They’re buds with No Age, Best Coast, and lots more Los Angeles bands that have gone on to become popular in the “indie” music world. Their last effort, the album Skeleton got them some attention, but it’s their newest album, Crush, that will make them a staple in every art-punk loving music listener’s library.
Whereas Skeleton was more straightforward rock, Crush incorporates a lot of electronics to create an icy atmosphere akin to tourmates Cold Cave. The music is driving and forceful, making it a pleasure to listen to as the summer ends and you’re looking for something a little moodier.
Crush is out September 20th on Bella Union.
