Once Dave Longstreth added two ladies to lineup of his band the Dirty Projectors, a lot of the focus has shifted from him to them, and for good reasons. Angel Deradoorian and Aber Coffman both have amazingly strong voices that harmonize well together. They both add a lot of variety to the music too, as seen on their last album Bitte Orca.
Since that album, both girls have sort of taken off doing their own things. Amber lent her pipes to a Rusko song “Hold On” which became a dubstep hit, while Deradoorian recorded an EP of music called Mind Raft released last year to not-too-much acclaim.
This year she’s re-released the EP with additional remixes from some talented producers like Tanlines, Hidden Cat and more. These guys take her soft acoustic songs and turn them into bigger, beefier electronic tracks. She’s no stranger to electronic, having sung on the Discovery song “Boyfriend” last year. But this remix and the Tanlines one especially hint at bigger things for Deradoorian should she choose to wander into the world of club music. With a great producer she could create some really really great songs.
Mind Raft + Remixes is out now on Lovepump United.
