Holy Ghost! put up this fun cover of Ministry’s “I Wanted to Tell Her” on Green Label Sound for free download. It features their DFA buddies Nancy Whang and Juan Maclean and lots of jittery grooves. Great bassline too. Maybe you can hear it on their current tour?

Can’t Let Go

Juan Maclean’s main man has a new project up his sleeve.

Built on tracks he felt were too “house-y” to be included amongst the more song-oriented singles on a proper The Juan MacLean release, Peach Melba is Maclean’s vehicle for releasing a stream of upcoming DJ friendly 12″s. The project’s output is decidedly faithful to the blueprint of those aforementioned early productions, emphasizing rolling melodies and big vocal hooks.

The first 12″ of this series is set to be released July 27th. It’s called “Can’t Let Go,” and it’s backed by a dub, and a “dub of dub” which strips the song down to its basic elements.

Pre-order the 12″ now from DFA.

The Future Has Come

juanmaclean1DFA is offering up The Juan Maclean’s rad new album The Future Will Come one week early on iTunes. It even comes with a bonus track called “Everybody Get Close” which has some robot vocals over a decidedly funky beat. Reminds me of more Less Than Human. And even drops some lyrics from “Find a Way” from the Find a Way EP. Oh yeah, and it’s only $5.99!  Need it. If you want it on CD or vinyl, you’ll have to wait a little while more. You can preorder it from Insound.

One Day (Lazaro Casanova Haunted Dub)

I just wish he’d have left some more of vocals on the track…

Next Friday, John and Nancy are playing a show in NYC. Here’s the flyer:

2106458930_582667f847_o1When John Maclean isn’t making sweet new music with Nancy Whang as Juan Maclean, he’s DJing around the world. He made a special little mix for magzine XLR8R. This one’s got some great tracks on it, including his incredibly awesome single “Happy House.”

I love how much this track sounds like Metronomy. It needs a Metronomy remix so bad. I love the holograms in this video. And Nancy Whang. And John “Juan” Maclean. This is just an awesome song and a good video with nice graphics. I just wish there were a little more than acting sullen.

The One Day is out now. The Mark Romboy & Lazaro Casanova remixes sound promising.

Here’s the first single taken from The Juan Maclean‘s new CD The Future Will Come, replete with synthy strings, boy-girl verses, falsettos, and sounding like today’s version of Human League’s “Don’t You Want Me.’ Would love to hear this track remixed by Metronomy. Sounds like their kind of fodder.
