I’ve really fallen for the French dance label Marble, which is owned by producers Surkin, Bobmo, and Para One. With just a few releases to their name, they’ve established themselves as solid tastemakers.

Their new release is from Sam Tiba, who hails from Northern France. His EP Black Eyed Weed infuses club bounce with some hip hop noises, weird synths, and plenty of character. Check out the lead-in song, “Zig Zag” below and buy the EP from iTunes.

Jens Lekman has announced a new EP, An Argument with Myself, his first release since 2007’s Night Falls Over Kortedala. The tracklist is below, along with video of a song “Waiting for Kirsten” about his meeting actress Kirsten Dunst.

1. An Argument with Myself
2. Waiting for Kirsten
3. A Promise
4. New Directions
5. So This Guy at My Office

It’s out September 19th on Secretly Canadian. Lekman says these songs didn’t fit the mood of his upcoming record, so except a full-length album soon too!

When I heard the Eric from The Tough Alliance was coming out with a solo album under the name ceo I got really excited, and then I was sent the album and gave it a listen and I’m in love. I know you’re probably sick of hearing that whatever music someone is pitching is “perfect for summer” but believe me, ceo‘s upcoming album White Magic is the album for summer, as of right now at least. Check out the “prologue” video below, glance over the tracklisting and give a listen to one of my favorite tracks from the album (there’s only eight but they’re all winners).

1. All Around
3. Love and Do What You Will
4.  White Magic
5. Oh God Oh Dear
6. No Mercy
7. Come With Me
8. Den Blomstertid Nu Kommer

White Magic is out on Modular June 29

I hadn’t heard much about True Panther’s band Tanlines other than a remix they did for Au Revoir Simone’s “Shadows” which I dug a lot. Well they released a new EP today, Settings that features six tropical songs that really make me wish it were summer right now! Below is one of the standout tracks from the EP and a remix. You can buy the EP here or at your local record store.

♫ Real Life

♫ Real Life (Basic Needs Remix)

You can catch Tanlines at SXSW this year at the True Panther part with Delorean, Lemonade, Hunx & His Punx and many other bands that are making me regret not being able to go to Austin this year.

So like, I was pretty bummed by Contra, Vampire Weekend’s new album. I was expecting more of the same afro-pop tunes about privlege, but got a bunch of songs about who cares what blah blah blah.

Then I got a hold of the Ruby Suns‘ new album, their first for Sub Pop, Fight Softly. The cover art called to me, beckoning me to listen. I’d heard their album Sea Lion and heard mention of their afro-pop inspirations, but heard none that really drew me in.

Then I put on Fight Softly and all that changed. If you’re looking for afro-pop with English lyrics (sorry, The Very Best) give this a try. It’s sort of chillwave also. You could put it on after some Neon Indian or Washed Out and it would transition beautifully. This tune totally made my morning.

♫ The Ruby Suns – Cranberry

Speaking of chillwave, the Ruby Suns will be hitting the US this spring with Toro y Moi in tow. Check them out!
